Antebellum Course Project

Have read chapter one of story about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.Working on vocabulary and questions for the Chapter.Having difficulty finding pictures of real freedom quilts. Most are replicas. Waiting to hear from Animoto whether am eligible for educator account.I think that would be a great way to showcase the students work on quilts. Finding it very difficult for my sixth graders to buy into historical empathy both in Harriet Tubman book and Sam the Minuteman. My older students who have been with me for two years are finding it much easier to put themselves in "Their shoes" and do thinking outside the box. Have been using my ipad to show students pictures from the summer course that are relevant to our story Sam the Minuteman by Nathaniel Benchley.
