Meeting in the Open
Today we finished reading, Sam the Minuteman and came across the phrase an open meeting. We talked about what it meant then I had the students re-enact what it would be like to have an "open meeting" in very close quarters. Tomorrow will finish reading George the Drummer Boy then follow up with questions for the last of the story and an overall comprehension test. The kids thought it was a good idea to play a game, Revolutionary War Seven Up to see if we could determine who actually fired the first shot. Maybe if everyone does their work. Not easy to do fun activities with the class as they can very easily get off track, but I think the point was gotten across with our mini activity today.
